While performing a benchmarking of event websites for a client, I came across some unusual features that you may have missed :
- Convince your boss : link to a pdf with convincing arguments at the time of asking your boss to register you for a conference
- Eat lunch with speakers : first n registered participants can eat with the speakers !
- Free copy of a book on registering
- Attendee directory
- Country ambassador : one person per country, in charge of spreading the word of the event
As for the real event, I've seen the idea of a Social meeting corner (Foursquare check-in, Twitter meeting point...), which could be announced on the website. But I couldn't see any website announcing it.
Those creative and low cost features may enhance the usability of an event website !
